Eva Wijers graduated as a fine artist in June 2008 with the video-installation 'AlsOf' (AsIf) from the Art Academy AKV St.Joost, Breda. 'AlsOf' has been awarded with the Young Talent Prize of Media Art Friesland and nominated for the René Coelho Prize of Monte Video.
Since her graduation Eva's working as an fine artist, had several expositions, works in collaboration with other artists and joins art-competitions.
Her main obsession is the human ratio that tries to control the feeling of loss, pointlessness and insignificance in the western world. The most beautiful abilitiy of the mind is to consiously fool ourselves by creating a comfort zone, every single day again.
Eva's work challenges the set bounderies of the normal. What starts with extensive reading and writing, Eva builds up into the leading concept wich mainly manifests in audiovisual work and performances. In her work, reproduction of the normal creates different perspectives that challenges the audience to renew their perception of what's showed.

In juni 2008 studeerde Eva Wijers af als beeldend kunstenaar met de video-installatie 'AlsOf' aan kunstacademie AKV St.Joost, Breda. 'AlsOf' is beloond met de Jong Talent Prijs van Media Art Friesland en is door AKV St.Joost genomineerd voor de René Coelho Prijs van Monte Video.
Sinds haar afstuderen is Eva actief als beeldend kunstenaar en doet mee aan verschillende exposities, samenwerkingsprojecten en wedstrijden.
Haar grootste obsessie is de strijd tussen verstand en gevoel. Het verstand dat probeert westerse gevoelens van verlorenheid, nutteloosheid en onbeduidendheid te controleren en onderdrukken om zo een comfort zone te creëren. De mooiste menselijke eigenschap is dat we onszelf elke dag, willens en wetens, voor de gek houden.
Eva's werk bevraagd de grenzen van het normale. In een proces van intensief lezen en schrijven,
komt Eva tot een concept voor haar werk dat zich voornamelijk manifesteert in audiovisueel werk en performances. Door subtiele enscenering van de werkelijkheid speelt ze met de verwachtingen en aannames van het publiek en daagt hen uit opnieuw te kijken.
